Wolverine

Everything set after X-Men Origins: Wolverine and before X1, will be Wolverine. Logan can finally meet Marie under different circumstances without using the AU verse. We have to wait until the movie is out to write Wolverine stories, of course, so let's be patient and hope for the best.

X1

The story is set during or after the first X-Men movie. Specific scenes can be rewritten with a nice Logan & Marie twist, but also, the story can even take place several years after X1. In any case, X1-universe means X2 never happened. No boyfriend Bobby, no Nightcrawler, no team members who sacrificed themselves, and friends who ran off to join the bad guys. Magneto is still (un)happily locked behind plastic bars, Cyclops is still a cute dork and Storm can’t fly and has a bad accent.

X2

X2 means the story is set during or after the second X-Men movie. Bobby should be dealt with (read: dumped), Marie is (becoming) an X-Men for real, friends turn(ed) evil, and a blue, bamfing German can be added to the Mansion's inhabitants. Also, certain redheads die (and probably resurrect again), some Brotherhood members are out of the game while Magneto is back in again, Cyclops is still a cute dork and Storm still can’t fly but has a very interesting haircut.

X3

Yes, there is hope after the third movie. X3 stories are set during or after X3, meaning we’re either on a redhead killing spree (yay!) or she’s already dead (again – another yay!), Logan can be written as a Metro Man who isn’t afraid of showing his emotions (yes, that’s sarcasm), Marie is touchable (for a while?), Bobby still has to be dumped, Scott is sorta gone, Chuck moved to another body, Storm sports a Tina Turner hairdo, and Ol’ Mags is a stinkin’ human (but obviously not for long). Oh, the joy and possibilities!

AU

‘AU’ stands for ‘Alternate Universe’. Warrior!Logan and Maid!Marie? Or Repairman!Logan and Girl-Next-Door!Marie? Egg-Juggling-Clown!Logan and Mother-Of-Five!Marie? In AU it’s possible. Sick and tired of scarves and gloves and mutations? AU is the right setting. You want a completely different turn on the movie with bits and pieces of X1 and/or X2 and/or comics? AU is your place to be. In other words: anything goes. God bless AU. Amen!
